project new kitchen:day 5 and 6

the boys had some radiator issues which set us back some in time (and cash) but martin is back on track now. wall is “built up” again, some cabinets are up and he painted at least parts. i’m sure he did tons of other stuff, but what do i know?

what i do know is that i finally ordered fridge/freezer, stove and fan. the struggle was to find pieces which were 50cm wide since the standard measurement is 60cm. so nothing fancy, but i’m satisfied and 11 000 kronor for all 3 seems like a reasonable price. linus did talk the salesman into a nice discounts so thanks to him for that (and for other things)!

i just drove linus “downtown” and i’m mighty proud of myself. keep in mind that i have barely driven in 2 years and definitely not in stockholm. but i have to admit it was fun! now it’s time to watch some grey’s anatomy.

project new kitchen: day 4

tuesday and the door has been removed and the opening is getting enlarged.

i’m handling some anxieties at the moment and i really want to spend as little time as possible in the apartment. i’m just praying that the guys know what they are doing. but i’m happy hanging out in linus apartment at the moment!

tomorrow i’m hoping to buy fridge, stove and fan. hoping. for my sanity.

i loved lady gaga’s paparazzi video when it came out mostly because my secret crush, alexander skarsgård, was in the video. but i stumbled across this version and it’s just so amazing. her voice and talant is just amazing. love gaga, love the song.

project new kitchen: day 3

monday: during my lunch hour i went to a store and bought my floor. like this (except i just needed 1 m2):

later we went a “last” time to the recycling station so now the kitchen is EMPTY! feels good.

and then… IKEA! everything was on stock so we filled up the car and unloaded in the apartment. hopefully martin the builder will start today. and this is what the kitchen will look like:

yes it’s smaaaaall, but i think it will be great! can’t wait to be able to show before and after pictures!

sunday and now the lower cabinets are in pieces as well as the wall tiles.

we spent less than 24hrs on the island but still worth the trip. and linus had to work of course. first in the kitchen as my personal chef and then pulling up the boat together with his dad. neighbor Anders helped as well.

it’s so wonderful to be out there regardless of the weather conditions. it’s a perfect place to relax, eat and drink good and just be. i’m hoping to take a trip back soon. thanksgiving maybe?

start saturday: tearing down upper cabinets and getting rid of old fridge and oven.

48hrs without internet

and several things have happened.

- mom went to china! i hope she has an amazing time and can’t wait to see all her pictures.
- my apartment has become a working site. saturday we got rid of the upper cabinets, fridge and oven.
- evening we drove out to ålön and spent a night there.
- sunday morning linus and his dad pulled up the boat to sleep until next spring.
- and back to the working site to complete the destruction. lower cabinets are now gone as well.

i have of course documented all of this in pictures and will start posting some tomorrow. now, back to handing linus tools while he’s working!

dad, erik and emil are heading to barcelona tomorrow and i wanted to wish them a great time. enjoy zlatan, tapas and cervezas and think of me back in stockholm working on the kitchen renovation.

Starbucks öppnar på Arlanda

Den amerikanska kafékedjan Starbucks har Sverigepremiär i början på nästa år.
Det är restaurangföretaget SSP som öppnar Sveriges första Starbucks på Arlanda.

– Det är ju modern till alla kaffekedjor och den svenska kaffemarknaden är intressant för Starbucks, säger SSP Sveriges vd Lars Edengréen till E24.

SPP har franchiseavtal med Starbucks i flera europeiska länder, främst i anslutning till flygplatser och järnvägsstationer.

– Arlanda är ju en av Sveriges mest trafikintensiva platser, så många får chansen att pröva, säger Lars Edengréen som menar att det återstår att se om det blir fler caféer än det första.

– Personligen tror jag inte att Starbucks nöjer sig med ett, säger han.
