Did I tell you we have winter here?

Yes, it finally arrived in Stockholm as well. Only reason why I haven’t mentioned it before is because every time we had snowfall, it only lasted for maximum 2 days. But now it’s been over a week of winter wonderland and doesn’t seem like it’s going anywhere. Lakes are frozen as well, but I haven’t dared going out there yet. I think I’ll wait for the plow machines to make tracks before trusting the ice.

The dogs are absolutely loving the snow and they are playing like crazy in it whenever they have the opportunity. Unfortunately for them I can max take an hour walk now (and that hour I feel for the rest of the day in my back!) so they usually continue the playing inside. To think that just a week ago when Birgit was going through a tough hormonal time I was worried about having the two together, and now they really are the best friends. I love my dogs. ♥

Week 27

We had an appointment with the midwife/nurse the other day and she measured my uterus and listened to Ludvig’s heartbeat. Everything was normal and she wasn’t at all concerned with my small belly. I also weighed myself and realized I have gained 6 kg. Guess Ludvig weighs 1 kg and then there’s the fluid in the womb. And then there’s my butt…. I have been so focused on my small belly I didn’t realize how much my butt had grown… I tried on some of my swim suits since we had plan on going on a sunny vacation next week (not happening) and realized I look like seal. There goes my plan on showing off an awesome pregnancy bod with the big round belly.

I do feel good now and only thing I could complain about is the pain in my lower back. But that’s to be expected when my own gravity point switches. I feel him many times a day and we play little games when I give him a little tap and he kicks back. I sleep from about 23 to 9 every night and I love our little morning ritual where I do a little status report on how he is and where he is. It’s amazing how tuned in to the body you become when you’re pregnant. Linus thought it was amazing to listen to his heartbeat at the nurse, but to me it’s much more real when I feel and also see him turn around in there!

PS: I hope you realize I’m just being sarcastic regarding the weight and that I really don’t care!

Love/Hate

Lately these guys haven’t always gotten along so well which has to do with Birgit’s hormones (she’s pseudopregnant) and you can find some proof of this looking at the scratches on their noses… So it really warms my heart to see them cuddling like this!

And don’t worry, she’s not treating Totti as her puppy. It’s worse with shoes and slippers which I constantly have to take away from her. Poor little wishful mommy to be! And here I’m parading about the boy in my belly… No wonder she invents her own babies!

I ♥ stripes

I went on my (almost) weekly trip to IKEA today to get material and found new fabrics! It’s almost like they would have been designed especially for me – that’s how perfect they are! The pink and blue fabrics are thinner and will be just right for the baby beds. I think I’ll end up using it a lot for Ludvig’s room. I just bought 2 m and I’m already regretting that! And the heavier beige/gray/plum striped fabric will be perfect for dog beds and will look great in our living room. Oh, I have so many things to do now – love it! (And yes, I promise to prioritize the orders I have gotten!)

Week 26

Already week 26… crazy! Still, I have to remind myself that I have over three more months left and that I don’t have to stress about everything yet… But still, I want to be prepared even if he decides to come early (which I for some reason think he will) and want to have all the essentials ready.

So far we have:
Painted his room
Purchased and put together a crib (for when he gets older)
Started to prepare the diaper table
Made curtains
Cleaned out his “closet” so only his own stuff left
Bought the stroller plus the carry cot
Collected some clothing pieces

What’s needed to be done:
Finish his room (yeah I know this is not necessary to do before he arrives but makes me feel better) which includes some sewing ideas I have, frame and hang pictures, make the crib sheeting, hang bookshelves on the walls for all Linus and my old books he inherits and I’m sure much more.
Buy the car baby seat but looks like it will be a Volvo/Britax one since we got a 15% off coupon.
Get a baby bathtub (or do you just place him in the sink?)

Did I forget something important? Moms out there, please let me know!! I’ll post some pics of his room soon. Until then, here’s a picture of him in my belly. And to all of you who are all “oh lucky you with such small belly”, let me tell you that I feel him just as much and have the same back problems, pre-contractions etc as my friends with bigger bellies! But it’s easier to fit in clothes so guess that part is good.

The reason for not updating my website or Facebook page is simply because I’ve been too busy working. But lately I’ve been making more annatotti baby beds than dog beds! For now it’s just for friends but maybe I’ll add it to my business soon…
